  • Today is the day you earn your reward!
  • A 3 hour climb leads you to the stunning views at the summit of Pachacute (patch-a-coo-tay) Mountain.
  • After achieving this huge accomplishment, you will spend some time walking downhill – passing a beautiful lake and other small villages until you reach the campsite at Lares Hot Springs for dinner and rest.
  • Feel free to take a dip in the healing waters – you earned it!

Day 3: LARES HOT SPRINGS – ANKASMARKA -OLLANTAYTAMBO

  • Today is a little easier on the knees while you start the day with a car ride to the Ankasmarka Inca ruins.
  • This sprawling site is where they stored grains and other items after the harvest.  You will have plenty of time to explore the site on foot before walking on a private footpath to the waiting van.
  • Tonight you get to have a hot shower and sleep in a comfy hotel bed in the town of Ollantaytambo.

  • Today you finally get a taste of the famous Inca Trail!
  • We will take the local train to KM 104 and hike the last leg of the ancient trail.
  • Four hours of hiking brings you to the incredible Inca site of Wiñay Wayna before we continue on the home stretch to the Sun Gate to Machu Picchu.
  • Your first glimpse of Machu Picchu will give you the energy you need to continue on the path into the citadel.  You will have a little time to explore before dinner, but don’t worry and don’t rush – you’re one of the lucky ones who gets to come back to see more tomorrow.
