Full Itinerary

DAY 1: CUSCO – HUCHUY QOSQO

Ready for some fresh mountain air?

  • This trek begins just a stone’s throw from downtown Cusco at the ruins of Tambo Machay.  We get the hardest part of the trek out of the way early with a 4 hour hike straight up hill.
  • Don’t worry though – in addition to the amazing views, you’ll be rewarded at the top with your first lunch cooked by our chef – a well-earned treat!
  • After lunch, we’ll have an easy 4 hours to digest until we get to a small community called Pucamarca.
  • We’ll kick off our hiking boots here and relax for a while until it’s time for dinner.  If we’re lucky, we may even be treated to some ancient bedtime stories from the locals if we don’t mind sharing our bread and coca leaves.

DAY 2: HUCHUY QOSQO – AGUAS CALIENTES

Did you sleep well?

  • Today’s a bit easier as we spend the whole morning descending into the canyon.  Even though we’ll be walking downhill, we’ll still emerge from the mountain high over the whole Sacred Valley – taking in the amazing view as we go.
  • The highlight of Day 2 is our arrival at the Huchuy Qosqo Inca ruins where we’ll spend lots of time exploring and trying to figure out how they built this place.
  • After we spend some there, we’ll keep with our easy pace and walk downhill to Lamay where lunch will be waiting.
  • Then it’s time to kick our feet up and relax for our van and train ride to Aguas Calientes – the town at the base of Machu Picchu.
  • You’ll have the sweet reward tonight of a comfy bed and hot shower along with a dinner on us in town.

 DAY 3: MACHU PICCHU- CUSCO

Today is the day, people! Machu Picchu is here!

  • It’s the day you’ve been waiting for – your visit to Machu Picchu!
  • You’ll have a guided tour of the whole city while feeling the magic and energy that make this place one of the most incredible places on Earth.
  • After the tour, we’ll head back to Aguas Calientes, or if you’ve purchased a permit to climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain (Must be purchased separately in advance), you will go there at the designated time.
  • You will get lunch or a snack in Aguas Calientes on your own before we catch the train back to Cusco.  At your hotel, we will say “hasta luego” to you, our new friends.
